The Pegboard: Brand ID

Kid Made Modern was born from the belief that creativity is a trait inherent to everyone; all we need is a little inspiration to spark the joy of making. They help kids and parents discover their creativity through arts & crafts kits, clothing, home goods, party supplies, videos and DIY projects.

During the pandemic, Kid Made Modern launched an ad hoc series of Zoom classes for parents looking for creative activities to keep their young ones inspired and entertained at home. Demand quickly outpaced supply. Sensing an opportunity to launch a more robust online education platform, I was brought on to help create a sub-brand that would resonate across multiple generations of students.

The initial research phase combined stakeholder interviews, lightweight user research with parents, students, and instructors, a landscape audit, and conversations with the team about brand architecture. From there, four creative territories were identified and used as prompts for subsequent namestorms.

Once the name was chosen and legally cleared, I developed three initial directions to explore how The Pegboard’s identity could come to life online.
