Illucid Book Cover

This cover was created for a fantasy adventure novel where the main character goes into a dream world to find their lost lover.
We decide with the client that a wraparound cover would give us the wide landscape format that we needed to imply the epic dimension of the story and the depth of the characters' journey. It also gave us the opportunity to create contrast between the luminous front cover showing the main characters, and the dark, twisted mass of monsters that symbolize the obstacles facing them on the back cover.
The painting is hand-painted in oils on gessoed paper.
