Google is looking for a Freelance Senior UX / Product Designer (12-month contract) in Mountain View, CA, USA.


Google Nest's mission is to create a home that takes care of the people in it & the world around it.

The Nest Ecosystems team focuses on creating experiences that make it easier for 3rd party companies to deliver smart home solutions that work better together with Google. This gives our consumers not only the best UX, but empowers them with more choices of what they use in their homes.

The team is looking for a strong web, visual, & systems designer to help design developer tools & experiences within our Google Home Developer Center.
GHDC aims to bring many different tools from across Google into one place, providing developers info & tools to learn, build, & participate in the community.

Help the UX team design & migrate existing developer consoles to the new site following an existing UX foundation
Contribute to our design frameworks
Collaborate with UX, marketing, engineering & product teams who use the site & tools to learn about & integrate devices & services with Google solutions
Partner with UXR, content strategy, PM, & engineering teams
Communicate recommendations, rationalize design decisions & advocate for users’ needs
Develop, iterate, & maintain storyboards, flows, information architecture, journey maps, low-fidelity mockups, prototypes, & final pixel-perfect visual designs

Excellent problem-solving skills & familiarity with technical constraints & limitations across platforms & surfaces
Experience with IA & defining new ways to organize info & experiences
Translate requirements into tangible & beautiful designs
Strong & demonstrable visual design skills & fluency on best design practices for mobile & web UIs
Portfolio highlighting multiple projects & your contributions
Execute against several work streams in a fast-paced environment & deliver clear, organized & detail-oriented solutions
Strong communication, collaboration, & presentation skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking
