About

Priorities USA is looking for a Design Director to join our all star creative team of art directors, writers and producers to help defeat Trump in 2020. You’ll be supporting one of the largest persuasion and mobilization campaigns in politics – a year-round effort to talk to key groups of voters.

Reporting to the Associate Creative Director (Art), the Design Director at Priorities USA will be managing a small team of designers to execute beautiful digital creative to motivate voters across the political spectrum. You’re a creative leader who thrives in a fast-paced design environment and can expertly manage the production of a wide range of assets across multiple projects.

Because of federal election law restrictions, we are only able to consider candidates for this position who are United States citizens or who hold a Green Card (are lawful permanent residents). We are unable to consider candidates who are authorized to work in the United States for other reasons.

You’ll be required to:

- Help build and manage a small but mighty design team. Oversee the completion of a wide range of creative tasks including photo research, in-house pitch and review decks, social media assets, display ads (rich media, video, static), animated explainers, GIFs and more.

- Partner with art directors and copywriters to propose the best design solutions and be able to clearly communicate rationale behind proposed design solutions to creatives and non-creatives.

- Build in-house best practices, style guides and design templates for digital ad products and work to maintain established standards.

- Lend your creative talents to design brainstorms and creative concept ideation to help bring to life beautiful and compelling creative for a wide array of audiences.

- Work collaboratively to implement feedback from cross-functional teams and quickly adapt to changing news cycles and polling results.

- Stay up-to-date on the latest news, digital creative trends and competitive campaigns.

We’re looking for:

- A designer with 6+ years of experience in an ad agency, entertainment, media or political/non-profit environment and 2+ years experience managing other creatives.

- A deep knowledge of display ads with experience building rich media and video ads.
- An understanding of HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS and demonstrated proficiency working in CMS platforms.

- An expert with both typography and color and understanding of developing effective designs for digital, social, traditional and influencer advertising is key.

- An excellent command of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Google Web Designer and presentation software such as Keynote, Powerpoint, and Google Slides. After Effects is also a plus.

- A willingness to jump in on tasks both above and below your skill level. You’ll be managing a small team but also not afraid to jump into design projects yourself.

- Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized, including clear external and internal file management.

- A strong portfolio that demonstrates the ability to develop and execute creative concepts in the digital and/or broadcast space.

- A passion for using creative to affect change, high emotional intelligence, and a strong equity lens.
- And of course: a deep and unyielding desire to defeat Donald Trump at the ballot box in November
