A developer is an essential member of our team focused on development, QA, feasibility research, and implementation for both client & internal agency projects. You will work directly with our team on a wide variety of projects - both new development and monthly maintenance retainers for clients. A keen understanding of dev languages, a strong aptitude for research and problem solving, an acute attention to detail, and an appreciation for design are critical to be successful in this role.

The following are some of the responsibilities of this position: write and develop code for websites, emails, mobile apps, and other digital interactive media; develop prototypes, samples, tests, and motion references during design and concept phases; assist in assessing the right e-commerce and/or content platforms for a build based on the needs of a client’s proposed project; build and launch temporary splash pages or prototypes; build newsletter templates, social media posts, and other forms of digital collateral; advise on wireframes and decisions — work closely with Lead Developer and broader team to identify right choices for UI/UX per site.

Qualifications include experience with Shopify and/or WordPress (ideally both!); knowledge of CSS, JavaScript, HTML, PHP, Liquid, and some JavaScript frameworks such as Vue or React; knowledge of APIs, Content Management Systems, and hosting platforms; must have strong written and communication skills (Slack!); must have meticulous attention to detail that does justice to the bespoke design Hugo & Marie takes pride in and excels at; must have strong time management skills and take initiative in prioritizing tasks for each project (we use Asana); and must be able to work quickly and cooperatively under pressure to meet deadlines (we try to plan projects to avoid this but can be necessary on occasion).
