Nike Innovation Summit
Every four years Nike hosts an ‘Innovation Summit’ showcasing the company’s newest products and technologies. In March of 2016, over 350 global sports and fashion reporters came to New York for a first glimpse at each of the thirteen different innovations and the year’s Olympic uniforms.
Working directly with the marketing team at Nike, I began by translating each of the thirteen innovation narratives into a deck of architectural and artistic references. With the rest of the team at Bureau Betak, we parsed out the design of each ‘Innovation Pavilion’ and refined it with each of Nike’s many teams. My role can also be seen clearly in the overall floor plan of the space. The challenge was to have the space transform over the two days of the event – slowly revealing each of the stories.
Additionally, I managed the development and concept of an industrial robotics installation. Working with one of the field’s leading programmers who I’ve collaborated with in the past, we developed a number of ways to implement robotics in the event. For the Flyknit installation we collaborated with London-based United Visual Artists who who drove the creative.
