HBO Game of Thrones - season 2 - viral campaign
HBO asked to help build buzz for the second season of the Game of Thrones. To do this, we created an immersive fan engagement program based around the loyalty the fans identify themselves with for one of the five families in Game of Thrones.
At WonderCon, we gave fans a unique opportunity to become part of the Game of Thrones experience, as they discovered that "The King Can Do As He likes". Using green screen technology, and a professional on-site retoucher, fan's heads replaced that of Ned Stark in the eye-catching fan poster. All photos were uploaded to the Game of Thrones Facebook Page for viral spread.
Fans lined the streets of NYC to get inked by a famous tattoo artist with their favorite family's "sigil" to show their allegiance with REAL tattoos by TLC, NY Ink, Ami James. Media sites and social media blew up with stories of permanently showing their loyalty with GOT tattoos.
Created a Facebook app allowing HBO Game of Thrones fans to pledge themselves to one of the houses and preview five videos and download exclusive downloadable content prior to the premiere.
