Hair colouring salon brand identity
Hue was a new-start-up hair colouring salon where customers select their choice of colour, have it professionally applied, then style their own hair using the salon’s amenities and products .
The identity and logo were designed to be simple, clean and bright, reflecting the nature of the name itself. A series of secondary graphic elements (a signature gradient graphic and distinctive portrait photography) were incorporated into the identity system and applied across a range of promotional and marketing collateral.
The identity was extended to apply to environmental applications with exterior and interior signage, and graphic window and wall treatments based on the mission statement of “We don’t do do’s. We just do colour. Gorgeous, fabulous colour, that is.”
In June 2008 the pilot Hue salon won four awards in the New Zealand Retail Design Awards, including the “Best signage and graphics” and the Supreme award.
The business has continued to grow and there anre now 4 Hue salons across Auckland.
