If #Prayers Were Dollars

In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, social media exploded with people tweeting their prayers to the hundreds of thousands of victims in the Philippines. But while prayers were nice, it was dollars that were desperately needed. So, to raise awareness and encourage donations, we created a website that leveraged Twitter’s API to generate a real-time tally of the money that could have been raised had each tweeted prayer been accompanied by a donation of just one dollar.
