Repair the Rockaways

Repair the Rockaways was a partnership Between Hungry and Mother NY in response to the disaster caused by super storm Sandy in the New York and New Jersey region in 2012. We created a game that translated online activity into a real world charitable effort by donating through a digital interface. Site visitors donate money in exchange for “bricks” to help construct houses in an environment modeled after the Rockaways.

The monetary contributions are directly donated to Respond and Rebuild, a volunteer group established in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, who aided the actual Rockaways with supplies, education and labor.
