When The Earth Erupts Graphics

I was hired to produce infographics and a title sequence for this 6 part mini-series that aired on The Science Channel. The schedule was very tight and the margins slim but it was a fun project, animating lava flows and earthquakes. My job was to take the scripts and illustrate them for the viewer. I had about 4 weeks leading in to broadcast plus about a week per episode, so the pipeline was very dense. I generated about 2 minutes of graphics for each episode. This often meant using satellite data and doing research on how the processes worked. I was also tasked with creating a title card for the show, and they wanted a CG active volcano as a backdrop. This meant creating a realistic volcano in Mudbox, and simulating lava flow in Realflow, rendering in Maya and compositing in After Effects.
