Target - College Styler (Made 4 U)
For Target's annual back to college campaign Deutsch devised a tool to assist incoming students in designing their dorm room with products that matched their style and personality. Based on our research we found that there were no preexisting tools that allowed roommates to collaborate on room design and to determine who would be responsible for bringing shared items (e.g. fridge, microwave, etc).
The tool that we designed and developed was a mobile-first responsive web application. What made this project interesting from a technology perspective is that we used we looked at users social footprints in order to gain insight about their behaviors and personalities. We pulled visual assets and data from users Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook accounts and used machine learning to determine common objects and color palettes. The social data was combined with a short personality quiz and the joint results yielded one of six (6) personas which drove product recommendations.
