Online Editor, KALEIDOSCOPE.media

In 2015, I was asked to serve as KALEIDOSCOPE’s Online Editor, overseeing the conception, development, and editorial process of the magazine’s newly re-launched website. Working alongside our creative director and design team, I worked towards fostering a digital presence that would enhance our printed output while establishing the site as a destination for distinct and diverse content. The immediate, responsive nature of online content allowed us to introduce a range of new and recurring features: photo-focused coverage of international art exhibitions and events; book and film reviews; interviews and panel discussions; commissioned series of exclusive, site-specific artworks, images, and fashion spreads; “Instagram Residencies” in which artists would take over the magazine’s online presence for a week at a time, manning our Instagram account while contributing material for corresponding features on our site. To produce this new content, I built a network of writers, photographers, videographers and other contributors, each of whose assignments I commissioned, managed, and edited. I also conceived and published original features of my own. True to intent, this revamped online presentation bolstered the magazine’s broader presence while expanding the scope of its content. Metrics confirmed that our efforts were worth it: within weeks, the site had established new peaks in viewership and shares, with subscriptions to both our printed editions and our newsletter increasing in turn.
