Green Community, the first major exhibition on sustainability in the United States, explored the complex process of creating healthy and sustainable communities.
The exhibition employed a narrative centered on themes of planning, policy, design and technology in order to tell the story of how diverse and varied communities approach sustainability. This systematic approach of presenting content called for an exhibition identity that would help make complicated and technical aspects of sustainability legible and interesting to museum goers. Design challenges included extensively researching the technology referenced in the exhibition so it would be properly illustrated, using sustainable materials throughout the space, and facilitating collaboration within a network of vendors doing custom fabrications.
The exhibition won a Society for Environmental Graphic Design honor award in 2010.
