History of Burlesque: Lecture Cabaret
This event centered around an academic who gave a lecture on the history of burlesque. Throughout the lecture performers would demonstrate the style she was describing. The audience was fascinated by the changes in the art form over time and the performers loved being part of a larger narrative.
I conceived of the idea for the event, did extensive research on burlesque history and worked closely with the lecturer to curate performers. I negotiated payment with all performers, researched venues, handled all logistics for the event and was the stage manager during the show. I managed the budget, wrote the press release and helped with promotion.
The event sold out and I am currently working on plans to repeat it in the spring.
