The client is one of the world's largest casualty and insurance providers. In the hopes of increasing their presence in the small commercial insurance world, they wished to redesign their quoting portal to be a best-in-class quoting experience. Extensive research was conducted, including 3 weeks' worth of field research with insurance agents. Personas, use cases, and emotional journey maps were just a few of the outputs of this phase. Some key findings included: agents typically have a dual-monitor setup and frequently copy and paste from one data source to another; agents never quote from any device other than their desktop computer; and agents appreciate transparency throughout the process and want to know right away if they could be declined or if their quote could be referred to an underwriter for more detailed analysis before a policy is approved. An 8-week design phase followed, in which both interaction and visual designs were completed. The portal included a robust experience to quote the different types of insurance products; a dashboard to manage new and existing customers; and quick access to help and FAQs. This design is pending release and is expected to go live in August 2017.
