trauern

trauern is a short video and a series of images displaying the different colors associated with the stages of grieving during the event of losing someone emotionally and/or physically. The colors are painted on the body by smearing it. This is to represent the aggression that is felt during this traumatic experience that every person has to deal with. The covering of the body in a more linear fashion is to treat the different emotional stages as layers that make up a whole. The smudging of the already applied paint, towards the end of the video, is to show an attempt of escaping the mental turmoil that these traumatic experiences create. Plus, the scream at the end represents the physical release of all the angst that has been building up.

The photographs were ripped and rescanned as a way to help strengthen the idea of torment and to help demonstrate the difficulties of trying to focus while grieving.
