No Service Exhibition
No Service (+) was an independently organized and executed graduate exhibition featuring digital, printed and interactive works from Son La Pham, Dexter Edwards, Seb McLauchlan, Bryn Fenemor and myself.
Removed from the context of the university and the ever increasing commodification of education in place of academic research, No Service gave way to exploring alternative and critical modes of research-led design practice. Presented in a private gallery, the works explored the tensional space between design and fine arts, calling for design education as a time of exploration and academic research beyond pragmatic development.
The exhibition ran for one week and closed with the release of Strips Club (+) magazine’s Issue II, a Christchurch based magazine with a critical focus on the practice of graphic design and academia.
