We worked with Luxurious Animals back around 2013 to create a fun smooth side-scrolling adventure exploring the hard work that goes into good ingredients.
It loaded in many interstitial assets, sprites, audio, and video pieces per section. The user could drive the Panera truck through four mini-worlds with different interactive pieces and scenery.
Browser performance for a project like this, especially on tablet, was a difficult thing to come by back then. We explored over 10 different ways to floor a number in order to squeeze as much juice from each device as we could.
We used PixiJS and a custom architecture to manage the required assets for preloading, separating scenes, URL history, and managing the cameras.
Note: Some jerkiness in the video is caused by screen capture software, not the experience itself.
