“You may be familiar with what the Dow Jones Industrial Average looks like. But what does it sound like?” -What 123 Years of the Dow Jones Industrial Average Sound Like

I spent a month working on this animated video, which was a part of a larger editorial package celebrating 130 years of WSJ; the stories were largely historical but I was tasked to help create the piece that would speak to how WSJ hopes to shape storytelling in the future. Our Research and Development (R&D) engineer digitally composed a song based off the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s annual fluctuations. I illustrated and animated “Dow Cow” to visualize the data. The video-game animation style features a cow navigating a world of obstacles while the background flips to monochrome every time we hit a year with a recession.
