In the year after graduating university I visited Japan. I managed to arrive in Hiroshima just as the G7 Summit discussing nuclear disarmament. The city, particularly near my accomodation, was in a state of lockdown, with a heavy police presence on every corner.
There were heavy protests from the locals on the issue of nuclear weaponry, an understandably personal topic for the people of Hiroshima. This busy and overwhelming scene towards the centre contrasted the much calmer green spaces.
These works were a visual exploration of my time there using mixed media.
