Boneshaker Books

I began volunteering with Boneshaker Books in March of 2024, and have since joined their technology committee and been placed in charge of their updated website design. Boneshaker's original website was pretty bare-bones, and the team had some issues with upkeep and stylization, so I stepped in to help.

I felt that the current homepage was a great start, but it gave a lot of info and the important stuff wasn't very clear. It was also lacking a bit of personality, and felt like a simple template. I wanted to revamp this and give the website the same feeling of "woah" that the store gave me. To do this, I enlarged the photo to fit the whole screen. I kept what I felt was the most important info (mission, hours, location, and brief intro) immediately available by placing it in front of the photo at the top of the page, and let the rest of the text fall back into a dedicated "About Us" section later in the page. This lets the viewer immediately understand what the store stands for and what sets them apart from other bookstores, and keeps the story available to people who are interested.
