LUCASA Branding and Packaging

LUCASA is a new, luxury homewares venture embracing the motto 'buy once, buy well'. The founders engaged me to design a brand and packaging concept to house their wares. I devised packaging that works twofold: as individual design objects and as a modular presentation platform.

A cube has the same number of sides as the word 'LUCASA' has letters. Extending from the smallest package—the cube—I developed a formula that enables packaging of different sizes to be displayed in endless combinations while forming the LUCASA brand name.

The packaging system is designed for expansion. Box colours identify and unite each new collection. It was important that the packaging be beautiful and distinctive from across a room and in the hands of the customer. We also wanted to ensure that the products were easy and fast to find in a storeroom—colours quickly identify the collection, and product names align across box sizes.

LUCASA products were to be sold in the parent store, online and via stockists. The modular packaging doubles as a presentation platform—boxes combine in myriad arrangements forming a foundation to showcase products, fashion window dressings and build trade show stalls—all without any additional props or postage.
