The GRAMMY Museum enlisted the help of the DXD department (Digital Experience Design) at Gensler LA to reenvision two of it's exhibits. By applying innovative creative strategy we brought both exhibits into the future and as a result created an immensely more engaging and FUN experience for visitors.
The museum's flagship exhibit, "Mono to Immersive," is a visual and audible journey through the evolution of recording technology - from Edison’s wax cylinder to fully immersive audio - using award show performances by Rosalia, Kendrick Lamar, Imagine Dragons, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, and Green Day. Using each track's EQ and video's colors we designed immersive abstract projections that visually morph in fidelity as the sound quality itself morphs through the advancements of recording technology.
The "Timeline" exhibit was previously a static wall of posters printed with key moments throughout GRAMMY Awards history. Our team modernized this permanent exhibit by designing a fully interactive user interface accompanied by animated graphics that invites visitors to scroll and select through GRAMMY Awards nominees, winners, and memorable ceremony moments in either English or Spanish. To compliment the museum's recent addition of LA's first permanent Latin music gallery inside the museum we updated the timeline to include nominees, winners, performances, and more from the Latin GRAMMY Awards.
