Cultivate Healing / Cultivate Plants

When I initially came up with the idea for this small series, I found myself wanting to create a subtle albeit slightly humorous correlation between therapy and plants. I wanted to design both a print option as well as stand alone pattern. To do so, I started with planning out the style of lettering I wanted to create. I wanted the lettering to feel fluid and effortless.

In the initial concept phase, I landed on lettering the phrase "Cultivate Healing," but felt it might come off as alienating potentially in a commercial setting. Therefore, I created a secondary option using the phrase "Cultivate Plants."

Next I started to research the type of plants I felt would fit with that type of lettering stylization. I ultimately settled on a range of different types of succulents.

The pattern was created initially in Procreate and finished in Photoshop and Affinity Designer.
