What Can You Do For Me?

What Can You Do For Me? (WCYDFM?) is a research and writing project on capitalism’s impact on mental health by registered clinical therapist and interdisciplinary artist hiu chan. Taking its first incarnation as a newsletter, WCYDFM? presents thought pieces and conversations with creatives of diverse backgrounds (performing artists, filmmakers, entrepreneurs, and multidisciplinary artists among others) that dive into critical reflection on capitalism’s influence on our relationships and various aspects of us.

Some themes for the content include dissecting concepts and words that have transformed in meaning due to the system’s role in our culture, exploring capitalism-induced addiction and insecure attachment, and an interview series on the art of collaboration.

hiu looks to share their research and experience witnessing and working with these topics with therapy patients. In particular, capitalism’s pervasive influence on people’s sense of self-worth and how it ripples into their relationships with people, things, emotions, boundaries, environment, and more.
