The island of Bonaire was at a crossroads. Tourism had become a vital part of the economy, but the environmental impact was taking a toll. With nearly a third of the island being protected national park, the tourism board needed a way to attract the kind of traveler who could enjoy the island while still respecting it. We created a new visual identity and voice that positioned Bonaire as the dream vacation destination for eco-conscious travelers who are ready to get off of the beaten path. In addition to updated branding and a traditional campaign, we launched The Earthonauts program, which provides travelers with free lodging in exchange for doing volunteer work with the island’s local conservation groups.
