This film was created for the 48hr Film Project in Seattle, WA. As such, we all more many hats.
During pre-production, I was brought on board as part of the core team. My location scouting during the weeks leading up to the film proved most fruitful as we were able to utilize both Uncle Eddie’s and Resistencia. These are beautiful local establishments which I frequented often; I even knew the owners of Uncle Eddie’s since their grand opening.
During Production, I functioned as DIT and managed all digital assets. This bled over easily into my role in post-production.
During post-production, I functioned as the primary video editor and colorist. The film was shot in 8K so that the final product could be stabilized and exported in 4k. This necessitated the need for proxies, a workflow I learned during this project.
After the 48-hr deadline the team decided to spend our own time over the next year to refine the project and achieve the original vision. During this time I managed the different team and coordinated with team members to get what we needed from people. Some scenes were properly ADR’d, some scenes were re-cut, and the sound mix was rebuilt and polished to reflect the original ambitions the team held.
This was a worthwhile endeavor, and I look forward to the next.
