XCON is Bluebeam’s annual user conference. For the 2021 conference I wore many hats. I spearheaded the branding and art direction. I hired and directed print and visual designers, animators, musicians, and developers. I also did some hands on design and animation myself.
Because the 2021 conference was entirely virtual, I saw an opportunity to explore branding ideas that would not normally be feasible for an in-person experience. To capitalize on the fully virtual conference, this year's identity consisted of bright colors that look best on screens, visual elements referencing the history of the internet, and music born out of the digital age. The event ended up with over 1,000 attendees worldwide and engagement every bit as successful as the in-person years.
