I had the opportunity to join Commit the Change (CTC), a student-led organization at UCI dedicated to creating high-quality software for non-profits while providing meaningful opportunities for students to develop tech with purpose.
Our team specifically worked with Abound Food Care (AFC), a non-profit organization that helps reduce food waste and food insecurity by helping organizations provide excess edible food to communities in need rather than landfills. They had a lot of trouble scheduling events and organizing their volunteers with inconsistent availability. As a result, our team of designers and developers decided to create a volunteer management system for AFC to better connect with their volunteers and engage them in organizational events.
