Creating a custom illustration for one of my favorite modern Filipino restaurants was an absolute DREAM project! Camille, Sari-sari’s owner, reached out to me for an illustration inspired by the classic Filipino nursery rhyme ‘Bahay Kubo’, a song about everything that grows in a Filipino garden. I’m SO proud to create work that both evokes nostalgia in other Filipinos, and shares my culture with others. I hand drew all of the ingredients/elements and created two designs - one for the large mural inside the restaurant, and one square design that would work better for the bandanas Camille wanted to sell in the shop.
