In 2019 FLIP (Paraty’s International Literary Festival) will pay tribute to the author Euclides da Cunha and SESC RJ set up a series of talks about the work and life of one of the greatest Brazilian author.
The idea is to give emphasis to an event where it brings us reflection and a deep conversation, especially at a moment with so many education and culture issues (and all its diversity), the downfall of publishers, the closure of bookstores, among many other examples that are in course in Brazil.
Euclides da Cunha went far beyond a modernist writer. He also acted as professor, philosopher, historian, sociologist, journalist, engineer and geographer. He was elected in 1903 as patron of the 7th chair of the Brazilian Academy of Letters and his most important work, published in 1902, was "Os Sertões", where he narrates the events of the Canudos War.
