In the Visible

In The Visible is a short film by Director Natasha Lee and Producer Lucia Tran that aims to dismantles Asian American stereotypes and the model minority myth through storytelling in the words of the community members themselves. A passion project for Natasha and Lucia, In The Visible quickly became a deeply personal project for an all AAPI crew as production began just days after the Atlanta Shooting. Through the sadness and pain of many violent events to the AAPI community to follow, the team persisted and found the strength to continue with the project. It was this strength, persistence and pride that inspired the visual identity. Using familiar symbols in Asian culture, the rising sun against calm waters is a symbol of optimism and the hope that by shining a light on our stories we can contribute to a kinder more empathetic world for future generations.
