scientific report design
The Boreal Songbird Initiative (BSI) is a Seattle-based non-profit organization dedicated to outreach and education about the importance of Canada’s Boreal Forest region to North America’s birds, other wildlife, and the global environment. I worked with Red Lemon Creative on this project, providing graphic design services.
Charting a Healthy Future for North America’s Birds is a 36-page report highlighting six modern technologies that are being used to track bird migration patterns with increasing levels of detail. Custom maps were created for the cover and for each of the technologies highlighted.
Manitoba’s Blue Mosaic:Six Aquatic Strongholds of Monitoba’s Boreal Forest is a full color 20 page report produced in English and French that highlights environmental concerns for six aquatic regions in Manitoba and their impact on wildlife and the environment. The report includes an introduction to the importance of the area’s waterways and wetlands and the need for forward-thinking, sustainable management strategies.
Boreal Birds Need Half: Maintaining North America’s Bird Nursery and Why It Matters is a full color 30 page report published in English and French that uses high quality design, photography and custom maps to explain scientific findings about why saving Canada’s boreal forest is critical for birds that migrate throughout North and South America. The report was one part of an overall campaign that included a website and exhibit design.
These project exemplify my interest in working with non-profits that focus on the conservation and restoration of our natural environment.
