Pain Dictionary

This is my contribution to The Pain Dictionary – I was asked to bring a pain description from a real endometriosis sufferer to life. Pain is subjective and contextual, so measuring it on a scale of 1 to 10 doesn’t really work. That’s why @bodyformuk have created The Pain Dictionary, a new language for endometriosis pain. They asked endometriosis sufferers to tell them how their pain really feels. And, out of those descriptions, created a new pain language, both visual and verbal – a tool to both express and recognise serious pain, which could lead to quicker diagnosis. Because, even though endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women, it takes on average 7.5 years to diagnose. It’s time to stop dismissing bad period pain as “normal”, and give it the expression it deserves. Let our #painstories be heard.
