Upon the top shelves of my grandpa's library, I would look at my grandma’s bells. Since my grandpa’s death, his house has been cleared out, the furniture sold, the books put in boxes, and the bells, he left to me. Bells are a way of punctuating time and creating space. They bring attention to people in need, and situations happening in the physical and mental landscapes of our lives. The period of time that a bell is ringing brings a moment of reflection before action. Through this project, I bring attention to the delicate and multi-dimensional ways women persist. The rings bring awareness to the way our bodies can fill the room and make a unique space to celebrate us through the participants' individual performances.
