Analytics showed that there are so many fitness apps on the market, users were being spread thin across them. Through competitive analysis and user interviews, we gained an understanding of what was missing from the field. Connection was crucial, as it was a major driving force behind the desire to engage, whether that was an individual connection to themselves and their goals, or their community and their social commitments. When it came to usability testing we were curious to see that even given the chance to connect with their friends, users wanted to first get to know the app before syncing their devices and contacts. We also learned that having direct links to any virtual workouts was essential in making the process seamless.
