SuperSurfaces is a group exhibition investigating visual surfaces across various mediums where we convey everyday messages on time (In the Paper Gallery, Seoul, Korea; July 10 – 17, 2018). In this exhibition, artists and designers showcased their works exploring the properties of contemporary surfaces such as ephemerality, fluidity, or blurriness. To promote the exhibition, my collaborator James Chae and I initiated a graphic theme with a blue screen. Based on the theme, James created a series of posters by playing around the placement and the size of a blue square to imagine SuperSurfaces. Then I designed and built a website by adding its behavior. On the browser, the curatorial statement comes to the front while the 3-dimensional blue square is floating around the text and reflecting related contents(artists’ works) based on the cursor. In this way, the fluidity and user-oriented perspective of the surface is highlighted with the flat and bold text.
