IBM: The Smarter City
An immersive peek into a Smarter City to help people see the importance of technology and how we can use it to improve our everyday lives.
As part of the Smarter Planet Campaign, a new kind of online, immersive experience was developed for IBM that took users through rich stories demonstrating how IBM is transforming complex systems across the world in 6 sectors: transportation, energy & utilities, healthcare, education, public safety, and economic development. In collaboration with Firstborn and Ogilvy's in house motion-graphics team, TheSmarterCity.com leveraged animation, audio, and video to engage with new and existing users, educate internal IBM teams and provide a compelling tool to help demonstrate IBM’s leadership capabilities in the government arena.
The campaign expanded into an immersive touchscreen unit at JFK Airport, and featured in the New York Times.
It was also the focal point at the Intelligence Cities Forum held at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC — supported by TIME and IBM. The event explored the intersection of information technology and urban design to understand where we are, where we want to be, and how to get there.
