A/D/O brought me on to restructure the multidisciplinary creative space’s website. The challenge was to transform the site’s architecture from a Brooklyn-based workspace into an online design and architecture magazine with creative hubs in New York, Shanghai, and Berlin. Three major requirements: 1: Highlight A/D/O’s editorial effort and its authors 2. Create an international network of A/D/O fans and collaborators 3. Ensure NYC community (local audience and members) were aware of events and exhibitions at A/D/O’s Greenpoint location As of June 2019, A/D/O’s site functioned into two parts: Global: Editorial, Research, and Large scale exhibitions; Local: Events, Restaurant, Shop, and Workspace To begin this design process, I first completed a content audit and deep dive of user analytics through HotJar. Working closely with A/D/O’s technology and design team, we were able to find duplicate content, confusing user journeys, frequent drop-off areas, and pieces of the site that should be reprioritized for easier accessibility. In addition to an updated site map, I recommended we change the homepage entirely. Considering both global and local users, we maintained a lack of visual hierarchy between physical events and a daily publishing schedule. A/D/O’s homepage UX was broken up into action-oriented patterns like “Read,” “Visit,” and “Join”. In addition to changes to the homepage, I also suggested we create a collaborator hub to showcase the international community of designers, artists, and writers.
