Mercato is an all new inspired eats lunch menu created by Starbucks. Made fresh daily every morning (never frozen), and donated nightly to the community through Starbucks FoodShare, a partnership with Feeding America. Starbucks wants to be taken as seriously in the food industry and they do in the beverage category. Since 2013, Starbucks has grown its food business by 1.5 times, and with the launch of Mercato, Starbucks is hoping to double that number by 2021. Mercato made it's debut in newly designed, food forward stores in over 100 location in downtown Chicago on August 1, 2017.
The food meets a variety of dietary lifestyles from high protein to vegetarian to vegan. Some of the featured items are the Chicken Za'tar Salad, Cauliflower Tabouli, a Seared Steak and Mango Salad, a Green Goddess Salad, a Fig and Chicken Sandwich and many more.
We worked for over a year collaborating with the store design team to create a beautiful customer journey from the fixtures, to the digital menus, to the packaging, the branding, and photography art direction. All coming together to create a fresh new take on what food means to Starbucks and their customers.
