Identity for Smith+Sauer
The Brooklyn architecture practise of Joe Smith and Dylan Sauer could be described as anti-ornamental and bauhausian, although the visual outcome of their work might not necessarily evoke the tropes aligned with those methodologies. However, their working ethos is very much about taking advantage of the existing, material surroundings of the scene, and elevating those details by making them a protagonist in the new build. Their new identity is driven by a logomark that is only made out of glyphs—dashes,
slashes, underscores—the tools of the typographic world, to create an icon that resembles a simplistic built structure, like a house.
