This documentary celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act as championed by Lyndon B Johnson. Its goal was to help shine a light on all of the progressive programs and legislation that LBJ pushed through during his tumultuous time in office. His legacy has long been overshadowed by Vietnam and this documentary paints a more fully informed picture of this enigmatic wheeler dealer who once famously said, when asked why he pushed so hard for Civil Rights and Voting Rights, "well what the hell is the presidency for" if not to use the power to promote real change. Narrated by Anthony Mackie, it aired on History Channel and is very timely today as Civil Rights are once again at the forefront of society.
