La Nouvelle Vague

The BFI celebrates classic and contemporary films and this time French New Wave was the hero. French New Wave or Nouvelle Vague emerged in the 50’s and was renowned for its ‘Fuck You’approach to traditional film making. Experimentation with editing, visual style, strong narrative and character development made French New Wave one of the most influential movements in film history. I tried to capture the visual style by using black and white imagery from some of the most famous films of the time, used the distinct style of poster art as inspiration and added colour in the form of circles as a call back to the BFI logo.
