In this project, I choose a gallery exhibiting “witnessing” in the RISD museum. The idea is to encourage people to observe things that are ordinary but also worth watching in life. I create some creatures that live in "everyday scenes" through augmented reality and present how they spend their time in this gallery.
I started from standing in front of each piece in the gallery and imagine what else I can see based on the scenes. What traditions can I break from? What kind of creatures came out of my mind unconsciously?
With the thoughts, I made short animations for each of the pieces and arranged them as a set in Unity. Then I connected them with my phone by using Xcode, activated them as an AR App. I hoped the App will allow this exhibition to be viewed from another angle.
The other important point for this project is to connect all the works in the witnessing exhibition; they are a huge unity. Within the App, creatures and moving objects are freed from the frames. This project also carries on the concept of "restoring continuity" between art and everyday life experience in the exhibition.
