The production industry is growing immensely with their being more content than ever being created. Due to the industry growth and the large financial incentives they bring to states, many places are competing to attract productions to film in their state. For my independent study, I worked with the Virginia Film Office, Virginia's state office who works to brand Virginia as a perfect place for any production to film. The problem they were facing was outside of financial incentives how can they brand Virginia as a premium place to film. I developed a strategic plan that would not only help Virginia stand out from other states but also help them solidify their future as a content creation state. Through this plan, Virginia would focus its efforts on the young and new content creators and they would expand their vision of entertain to more than film but also games and VR. I was in charge of every aspect of this project including, extensive research, conducting interviews and surveys, creating their brand positioning and brand strategy, developing and designing strategic recommendations and recruiting, managing, and briefing creatives.
