Okay
Alcon SaaS Platform

Overview — Alcon wanted to synthesize two outdated products into one powerful SaaS platform for eye cataract procedures. Designed exclusively for ophthalmologists, SmartCataract guides doctors in making the optimal cataract corrective lens choice, thus minimizing error and improving patient surgical outcomes. Role — In a UX team of three, my contributions included discovery research, user interview facilitation and synthesis, key theme identification, and wireframing. Our team built SmartCataract with a focus on human-centered design. By interviewing and observing cataract surgeons and technicians, our team gained a better understanding of the information flow within practices and the best way to collect patient data. Outcome — The proof of concept was presented to 20 practicing ophthalmologists at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in Chicago. We ran a hands-on prototype demo, with ophthalmologists navigating through an iPad Pro-based prototype and completing scenario-led tasks. Design revisions were made based on valuable prototype feedback and he MVP SmartCataract platform was released. Today iterations are consistent, furthering advancing ophthalmologists' efficiency in patient care.
