1st Rio de Janeiro HipHop Circuit

Urban culture that emerged in the mid-1970s in the black and Latino suburbs of New York,Hip Hop has been taking care of the streets and squares of Rio de Janeiro through the phenomenon of “Rodas Culturais”, community meetings of free manifestation of Hip Hop culture, performed in public spaces, totally free, without any restriction peoples movement and with the responsibility of transformation of the territory.

With just over 10 years of history, the “Rodas Culturais” decided to write a new chapter in their resistance track and embraced the challenge of creating the 1st Circuit of “Rodas Culturais”. There are over 100 Circles from 22 cities in the State of Rio de Janeiro occupying squares and viaducts with a democratic and responsible culture.

The circuit is organized in 8 territorial centers and it is expected through this initiative to strengthen the competitiveness of Rio de Janeiro MCs, the public and the visibility of the meetings, which today attract thousands of young people through the state.
The idea is to transform it into the world's largest street culture circuit, placing these “Rodas Culturais” movement on the route of cultural tourism in the State of Rio de Janeiro.
