Experimental Playback Performance

The personal and public stories (as well as the ambient sounds) collected throughout the tour, were collaged to form an original soundscape, composed with sound artist Shi’rap,

The soundscape in turn inspired an experimental playback theater piece, which we produced in collaboration with the Freedom Theatre, at Sakakini Cultural Center.

The idea was to turn the stories of struggle into experiences of individual and collective catharsis, liberation and empowerment. This becomes a process of celebration regarding the resilience and strength of the publics we were both listening, and speaking to.

We are currently working with the material compiled to date (audio, images, and video in flat and 360 formats) to produce an immersive virtual relaity experience in a hybrid 360 / animated format.

The material recorded forms part of a larger critique of the so called peace process in the region, and intends to question mediated socio-political perceptions through personal and intimate experiences with the subject at hand.
