Experiential: Facebook "The Get Together"

Facebook launched Portal a few months after Mark Zuckerberg testified in the Senate Hearings. The timing couldn’t be worse for a video calling device meant for the home. To humanize Portal we developed and produced a narrative-driven demo experience. Portal from Facebook allows you to feel like you’re together in the same room even when you’re far apart, and nothing is more impactful than experiencing this first-hand. To celebrate the joy of connection we hosted The Get Together, an immersive, theatrical experience within a meticulously designed eleven-room home. From comedic improv with a cast of relatable family members, to distinctively styled rooms that invoked the character of a real house, to custom-knit sweaters and holiday cards, we ensured that every touch point of the journey was considered so that Portal became the tool for encouraging connection. We worked with Buck to create a campaign to tease our experience which drove 60% of our attendance. The experience preformed well above industry benchmarks for experiential including the increase of Portal sales by 8X in the NYC market (with no products sold on site) and a 400% lift in positive social mentions for Facebook.
